TRAINING

    Quality over quantity
No fear of mistakes: positive vs. negative errors
    Regression to the mean
Athletes will be better players - if they coach!
No trying: do or do not
    Be non-verbally positive
    Be a good role model
    Utilize "teachable moment"
Cooperation / Competition and self discipline
    Coach democratically / socratically

Coaches

Coaches need to make our approach to coaching as consistent as possible. We ask our players to come in with a focused mindset when they come
into practice and we have to do the same thing.

Coaches must be consistent if they want the athletes' efforts to be consistent. The other things athletes want are also listed here. They want a
coach that:

• values the process and their performance over the outcome.

• helps every player in the program, not just the most talented players.

• can separate the athlete's performance from their value as a performer.

• is demanding and disciplined, but is never demeaning.

• knows how to coach Smarter...not just Harder.

• is innovative, not just imitative in their approach to teaching the game.

• understands that teaching Anticipation, Reading, Timing and Judgment is critical to athletes' learning to play our game
